Date of Death: 23/12/1917 Awards: D S O Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: 24. Memorial: PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL, UK. Born in Trinidad. Lt Cdr RN. He had commanded destroyers continously since the beginning of the war. Passed out as Midshipman in 1901 reaching the rank of Lt 6 years later. The destroyer "Coquette" to which he was appointed in Jan 1914 was mined and sunk in the North Sea in the spring of 1916 when 22 of the crew perished. It was while he was in command of his next ship HMS Myngs, that he was awarded the DSO - this was in May 1917 and in Sep 1917 he was again Mentioned in Despatches. He went down with his ship HMS Torrent while in action off the Dutch coast on 22 Dec 1917. FYB1919. Cenotaph has rank as Cmdr.  Commemorated on Port of Spain Cenotaph
